Kassams hit Israel after Gaza attack

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- At least five Kassam rockets were fired at southern Israel in apparent response to an Israeli Air Force attack in central Gaza.

The Air Force stuck a squad of armed Palestinian men near the security fence in the central Gaza Strip Thursday morning, according to the IDF spokesperson. The squad was identified after firing an anti-tank missile at an IDF patrol along the security fence. At least three of the gunmen were killed, according to reports.

At least five rockets were fired into Israel Thursday following the operation in Gaza. No injuries or damage were reported. Islamic Jihad's al-Quds Brigades claimed responsibility for the Kassams.

Israel's operation Thursday morning was part of a Wednesday evening attack on a vehicle in Gaza which killed a senior commander of Islamic Jihad and second terrorist, according to the IDF spokesperson.
